Finally, a picture. This is me with my nice "Sticks", or crutches. It has been 3 weeks and I am tired of them. Directly behind me is the 1984 Champion Transtar we bought for local camping. It is in the process of being repainted. Directly behind that is the front end of the 38-1/2 ft fifth wheeler that was situated here for 4 weeks. Today was "pickin n grinnin" at the Palatka Sr Center, which went well. We are waiting for Jerry and Shirley Burkley to show up with their camper, in a few hours.

Getting back up to speed

we are getting busy again. Tuesday was potluck supper and meeting at our local "Hermits Cove" community center.

Wednesday was Music nite at Lou's Ponderosa, featuring Peter Leahy from Raleigh, NC. and several of our local talents.

Thursday was the magnificant Air Force Reserve Band at Flagler.

Friday was an open mike at the Hammock in Palatka. This was an excellent program featuring several of the more noted singers of the Palatka area, which we are including in our growing circle of musicians in the area.

Saturday included a trip to Deland, flea markets, yard sales, and a visit to Daytona speedway, to pick up tickets for the Budweiser Shootout, Feb 7.

Sunday, we went to Normas' house to meet Greg and Mel, who were on their way to a seminar in Orlando. Also there was Gregs' Mother and Father, Bill and Loretta, originally from Falconer, now living in Raleigh, NC. Janice and Don, along with Annette, and 3 of her kids, Hannah, Jenna and Blair. Jane was also present. We all wound up at Alfies in Ormond Beach. This was a somewhat historical event in that 5 of the 6 Mohr Children were together at the same time in Florida.

Monday, it was back to the Dr, to look at the knee. Basically, it looks good, but the Dr did not like some of the redness, so back on the anti-biotics for another week. We do not like this anti biotic, because of the drowsiness it causes. The Dr did allow us to go to one crutch and put more weight on the knee. Next visit with the Dr is Friday in St Augustine. We all, (Lester and Sue), Laura and I went to Supper at Bob and Laverns. Bob is 92(?) and amazing. Other than his eye problems, Bob is in good shape. Today was sort of a historical day in that we went for a boat ride and counted 29 alligators. due to the cold weather, and the surgery, and the visit with Derek and Liza, charlotte, Grcie and Eli in Tampa, our last boat ride was Jan 4th.

Today, Tuesday, our visiting neighbors, Gary and Loretta Anderson, from WNY, pulled out and went to stay at Lou's for a while. Another boat ride, with 30 or so alligators.

Tomorrow, we are off to the Deland flea market, and Lou's at night.

Thursday, we have new guests scheduled to arrive, depending on the winterstorm currently affecting the North. This would be Jerry and Shirley Burkley from Orchard Park, NY. They are members of the Niagara Frontier Fiddle Club and staunch bluegrass music fans.

We took pictures of me with my crutches, and will try to include those in the next posting.

Quiet Week

This has been a quiet week due to the knee operation and the colder weather being sent down by those jealous northerners. We went to the Dr again today, and all is well. Although things are quiet, we still traveled over the weekend, going to the Ramona and Johnson flea markets on Sunday. These are in Northern Jacksonville, and did I mention, I am driving again, no problem .

We have had visitors from the Jamestown area camping in the space between Lester/Sue and us. They are full timers with a 38-1/2 ft fifth wheel.

Photo Addition

We are learning how to add pictures to our blog and Kat won the lottery of being the first Grandchild, because she was the easiest to obtain. All others will eventually find their way into the Blog. Kat is the adorable adopted daughter of Heidi and Dan and although she is second youngest, she came into the family about the same time as the youngest(Eli) arrived.

On Monday we went to the Dr(orthopaedic) for x-rays of the new knee work and change of bandages. All is well, next visit next Monday. Oh yes, Heidi helped add the family picture taken by Liza at the October Christmas Party at their house.

Mohr-Fun Activities

In an effort to sort out our activities and allow any interested(?) family or friends to keep up with our activities, we have decided to resort to a blog site to serve as a diary. This story will ignore the many previous years and will, generally , cover 2009 and onward.

As everyone knows, we (Laura and Ron) are in "Paradise" Florida. A small town named Satsuma, on the St Johns river.

We have just completed a whirlwind of activity, which currently is being slowed down by a partial replacement of someone's left knee. In late December, Laura and I went to Seaworld in Orlando, and on Christmas Eve day we went to Epcot, also in Orlando. On New Years Eve day, we went to Jacksonville to take in the activities of the Gator Bowl. Christmas Day was at Normas' new house in Flagler Beach. Other family included Jane, Janice and Don, Annette, along with Kayla, Jenna, Hanna, Blair Jr. Mike was there with Leslie and Zack, along with Leslies' parents, and leslies brother. This may be a new tradition for the Florida Mohr Family.

On Monday, Jan 5th. after the Doctor visit, we left for Brandon(Tampa Bay) where we stayed with Derek, Liza and family at the Homewood Suites Hotel. On Tuesday, we all went to Busch Gardens, which has added considerable things for children to do. On wednesday, we all went back, except Liza and Eli. I recently bought a new camcorder, with a hard drive , so can record up to 16 hours, without tapes or discs. DVDs are easy to lake with this so expect your own personal dvds of Mohr family in the future.

Wednesday nite we came back to Satsuma, and Thursday morning reported in to the Flagler Hospital in St Augustine where a partial knee replacement was performed. This went well and I was discharged yesterday(Saturday). all went well, but since I can only put 50% of my weight on it, I must use crutches for a while to get around. so guess what? we have temporily slowed down quite a bit for a while. When we learn how, there may be some pictures showing up on this site.

Keep posted for the ongoing activities of the Florida Mohr Family.
